Google regularly updates Zeitgeist by country. While most of the countries are non-English speaking, one can find some good tidbit from this data.

For instance, their most recent November 2005 Zeitgeist shows that Australia is obsessed with personalities -- six of the top 15 searches were regarding people (excluding Harry Porter), while its neighbor New Zealand had only three.

India was the only country with a programming or computer related query -- Java -- in the top 15.

Harry Porter was in the top 15 for all countries except France, Japan, Poland, Russia, Turkey and Vietnam.

The only query to be No. 1 in more than one country was Wikipedia -- in Germany and Poland.
