Linux and Open Source

Some interesting developments happened in the past month or so that would help Linux's growth accelerate:

1. Nokia's announcement of 770

2. Motorola displayed/announced its Linux/Java phone with a battery life (on a single chip) of 200 standby hours and 200-250 minutes when talking. If true, Linux is improving quickly on the power management front. This is the second Linux-based Motorola phone to hit the market in recent months – A780 was introduced late last year. Separately, a Motorola official in Taiwan said in January that the company will introduce 8-10 Linux/Java phones in Asia this year.
